Klocwork Announces New IBM Rational Unified Process® Plug-in for Existing Software Reuse
New Plug-In Provides Methodology for Comprehensive Understanding of Existing Software Assets
September 18, 2003, Santa Clara / Ottawa: Klocwork, the leading provider of software intelligence solutions that perform a detailed source code and design analysis to reveal defects affecting quality, software roadblocks to improved productivity, as well as ongoing management reporting and developer assistance, today announced the availability of a Rational Unified Process Plug-in for their inSight Architect and InForce System products.
Rational Unified Process, or RUP, is a configurable software development process platform that delivers proven best practices and a flexible architecture that enables teams to select and deploy only the process components needed for each stage of a project. With industry-proven software engineering best practices at its core, the RUP platform includes tools for configuring RUP for a project's specific needs, tools for developing internal knowledge into process components, powerful and customizable Web-based deployment tools, and an online community for exchanging best practices with peers and industry leaders.
“The new Plug-In is again proof that the firm is dedicated to providing the innovative solutions that development organizations require to manage their software assets in the most effective manner” said Eric Goodwin, CEO” of Klocwork
. “Klocwork
understands that new solutions are continually required by software architects and managers to maintain control and to enhance the productivity of their software. We think the new RUP Plug-in gives them another very effective tool to meet those challenges.”
Bruce MacIsaac, Senior Process Engineer with the RUP Development Team said “The new Plug-In explains how Klocwork
tools can be applied effectively as part of the process. In particular the Plug-In provides clear guidance on how to use inSight Architect to help define a software architecture that includes existing software and how inForce System can be used to detect defects and save costs over the project lifecycle.”
The Plug-In provides a methodology to obtain a complete and accurate understanding of an existing software architecture, design and code. It also helps identify file-level and system wide code problems and the opportunities and actions required for maximizing reuse. The Klocwork
Plug-In is available as a free download on the Rational Developer Networks RUP Plug-In Exchange and directly from Klocwork (Version 2002 (6.75 MB Zip), Version 2003 (4.75 MB Zip)).
Klocwork
will be demonstrating how its two featured products - inForce and inSight - are used in conjunction with RUP Plug-In for Existing Software Re-use at the Rational Users Conference August 24 to 28.
